Join our Delivering Great Homes Group

We are recruiting key decision makers and strategic thinkers from our member organisations to join our national Delivering Great Homes Group (DGHG).

Our national groups support us in developing and testing specific policy ideas, gathering vital member intelligence, informing our work with key stakeholders, and acting as ambassadors for our work. Members of our national groups have the opportunity to shape debates at a national level with support from National Housing Federation (NHF) staff.

What does the group do

We have a number of national member groups focusing on specific issues or topics. The national DGHG shapes, informs and influences our work on new supply and development. This work is particularly crucial at the moment given the Labour government’s ambition to deliver 1.5 million new homes, and the importance of shaping the next Affordable Homes Programme.

Specific areas of discussion and focus could include:

  • Housing association's appetite and capacity to build new homes of all tenures.
  • Issues affecting the delivery of new homes, including access to development finance, the planning process, land values and build costs.
  • How to maximise public and private investment in housing.
  • Risks and opportunities presented by any further devolution of funding or powers.
  • Delivering good design and quality standards cost effectively.
  • How to ensure the planning system and land market can be used to maximise housing association's delivery of new homes.
  • Trends in the wider housing market and a route for early warning of what’s working and what’s not working, in relation to building new homes for rent and purchase, and identifying barriers and opportunities for the sector.

Who are we looking for

We are looking to recruit up to eight new members to join this well established group. We want to draw on expertise from across the sector and individuals with a professional interest in development. If you’re a key decision maker in your organisation and have experience of managing development programmes, then we would like to hear from you.

Individuals from across our membership will be selected to join the group for a three-year term, renewable once up to a maximum of six years.

We are keen to hear from housing associations of all sizes that have an active development programme. Ensuring a cross section of our membership is included in the group is important to us. With this in mind, we will take into consideration the size, type and geographical location of housing associations during the shortlisting process. We’re particularly keen to hear from housing associations operating in rural areas, as well as housing associations working in the North West, Yorkshire & Humber, East of England and the South East.

What do group members do

Group members should be available to attend quarterly, virtual meetings. There will also be some invitations to attend ad hoc roundtables or respond to requests for feedback or information in between meetings.

How can I apply

Please complete the online application form by 30 April 2025. A panel will consider all applications and there will be no interview process. For an informal conversation about the group and its work, please email Kate Warburton, External Affairs Manager.
