Communications and Influencing Network – The Better Social Housing Review

27 February 2023

The poor quality of some social housing has been in the spotlight in the last few years. The Better Social Housing Review was set up in June 2022 by The National Housing Federation (NHF) and Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) to tackle social housing issues in England.

The review run by an independent panel spent six months investigating this issue and has produced a detailed report and recommendations for change to the social housing sector and the government.

It gathered insights and testimonies on how to improve social housing by reaching out to people with direct experience of social housing, as well as organisations with a role in providing and managing it. Both the NHF and CIH have accepted all the recommendations and we are collaborating on an action plan to put them all in place.

This webinar provides an overview of the communication and public affairs network of the Better Social Housing Review’s final report and recommendations.

This includes:

  • Next steps for social housing to drive improvements in the quality of homes.
  • A review of how we engaged with residents and stakeholders on the current quality of social housing and the issues.
  • Update on the Social Housing Bill including the tenant satisfaction measures.

Speakers

  • Chair - Ciaran Tully, External Affairs Manager, NHF
  • Charlotte Deshmukh, Programme Manager, NHF
