Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024

The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 formed a key part of the previous government’s plan for reform following the Law Commission’s review into the subject. It was debated and passed through Parliament quickly as part of the “wash up” of legislation after the general election was called.

The Act has many parts, not all of which relate to housing associations and their operations. We have put together a briefing for members which concentrates on the new rules which directly impact members’ work. Uncertainty remains about how and when the new rules will be implemented. We will provide details when the government makes a further announcement.
